Yahoo is in talks with Alibaba over Alipay spin-off differences

Yahoo Inc. and Alibaba Group made a statement on Sunday that they are negotiating to resolve differences over the spin-off of Alibaba’s online payment business Alipay.
A Chinese ecommerce giant Alibaba and major stockholders Yahoo and Softbank Corp.  are in talks “to resolve the outstanding issues related to online payment system Alipay in a manner that serves the interests of all shareholders as soon as possible,” the statement said.

Visa has invested £6.6 million in British m-banking provider Monitise

 Visa Inc. has announced its intention to invest £6.6 million in London-based mobile banking and payments service provider Monitise plc to increase its stake to 14.4%. Earlier the company has announced that the existing agreement with Monitise was prolonged to 2015. 

Last June Visa invested $13 million in the company by signing a 5-year strategic agreement called "Global Alliance Agreement". Under the agreement Monitise was to develop technology to provide SMS alerts and secure payments to 2 billion clients of Visa worldwide.

PayPal has reported the results of its new study on the future of money on its official weblog. Nicky Mezo from PayPal Canada wrote that according to the researcher commissioned by PayPal Canadians are opting to reach for their digital wallet instead of cash and checks when paying for their purchases.
The study revealed that Canadians like having money at their fingertips so when it comes to paying and getting paid they are increasingly using a computer or mobile phone to pay for everyday things like splitting a restaurant bill or sharing costs.
