83% of US customers shop online weekly

According to a survey, released recently by Compete, a Kantar Media company, 83% of consumers shop online at least every week. The quarterly Online Shopper Intelligence Study polled 3,119 online purchasers between May and July 2010.
Study also found these consistent trends:
•	Consumers are seeking out retailers on Facebook and Twitter in growing numbers, 31 percent report checking out Facebook fan pages or Twitter feeds of retailers, almost twice as many people as in Q3 2009.

Proposal to include FM into mobile phones is strongly opposed by trade groups

A proposal by the radio and recording industries to require all mobile devices in the US to include Fm receivers was strongly opposed by trade groups who represent electronics makers and mobile carriers.
The proposal on FM inclusion from the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), comes as the trade group attempts to come to an agreement with a group affiliated with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in a long-standing battle over whether radio stations should pay royalties to record labels and performers for playing their songs.

How fast will technology industry recover from recession?

 A study provided by Gartner shows that while there are some sectors in technology industry improving since the worst in a decade recession burst out the damage caused by the economic turmoil may be felt for a few years.

In its report Gartner said that majority of the electronics industries like the consumer, wireless and semiconductor sectors are awaiting the first signs of recovery. However the stability of product demand and effectiveness of government stimulus packages still remains uncertain.

More than half of European websites selling consumer electronics are misleading or cheating online shoppers, the European Union consumer watchdog said on Wednesday after checks on 369 sites in 28 countries.National regulators will now force them to amend their selling practices and could close such sites if they fail to comply.

LG demonstrates largest super-thin OLED screen

World largest electronics company LG has demonstrated the world’s largest OLED TV at this year’s ongoing IFA event in Berlin. While having a size of 15 inches the screen is the largest super-thin screen with Sony having offered its 11 inch XEL-1 last year.Sony’s OLED display is just 3mm thick and, although LG hasn’t yet formally announced how thick its OLED display is, brief gaze at the screen suggests that the two are of equal thickness.

South Korean Daewoo Electronics Corp announced it would be picking potential buyers for its TV, air conditioner, vacuum cleaner and electronics businesses by April 22, in line with its restructuring to focus on appliances.CEO Lee Sung did not disclose the potential bidders, but he said there was one foreign investor among those who submitted letters. The businesses on sales can be purchased separately or as a package.
