Gold hits new records, silver raises

Gold reached a new record this Friday during Asian trading session and traded at $1,466.60 a troy ounce, and silver hit $40 an ounce for the first time since 1980.

The prices for gold are supported by a weakening dollar, rising oil prices, Portugal’s economy and geopolitical situation in the world. It was also said that Portugal holds 81% of its reserves in gold.

Platinum was at $1,794/oz, and palladium was at $782/oz.
