Gold declines ahead of ECB rate announcement

The coming meeting of the ECB has influenced not only the euro but gold as well. Gold fell 0.4% to $1,454.35 an ounce at 2:25 p.m. in Singapore, after striking a record of $1,461.91 on Wednesday. Volatility index of gold lowered more than 2% on Wednesday. 

High prices for gold are supported by the situation in Libya and the Middle East as well as soaring food prices.  

Silver lowered 0.7% to $39.29 an ounce, from $39.7625 an ounce yesterday.  

Palladium was at $776.25 an ounce.
