As  the recent study published by Royal Pingdom unveiled, Twitter has shown perfect growth over just a summer. 

As the study unveiled, Twitter processed 2.64 billion tweets in August, reflecting an increase of 33% over May.

Despite summer is the time for spending holidays, swimming at pools, or whatever, for the majority of people, for some of them it still remains good time for spending it with Twitter. Thus far, a lot of people used this summer to become better acquainted with Twitter, increasing the overall number of tweets by 33% for the summer.

Moreover, Royal Pingdom showed that activity on Twitter has already more than doubled this year (August had 115% more tweets than January.
