Visa launched a new promotion program called I Go with Visa Debit for consumers in Brazil and Mexico. The program is meant to educate young adults on why debit is faster, more convenient and secure than cash. I Go with Visa Debit is a unique campaign that engages consumers through online and social media networks and allows them to participate in a creative contest.
“I Go with Visa Debit is a key way that Visa is trying to connect with today’s Millennials, a generation of innovation adopters who will be natural users of electronic payments products,” said Vicente Echeveste, Head of Consumer Products for Visa Latin America and the Caribbean. “Debit usage in the region is gaining momentum. In the last five years, volumes transacted with Visa Debit in the region grew 33 percent. Our major priority continues to be migrating ATM transactions to the merchant location, where consumers can best experience the benefits of debit.”
I Go with Visa Debit allows consumers to creatively express why debit is the better payment choice through an online contest. To win, participants submit a video and share it with the community for votes. The campaign leverages Visa’s global sponsorships by offering a trip to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ to the creator of the most popular video in each market. Runner-up can also win prepaid Visa cards of up to US$500 and users who vote are eligible to win prepaid cards, ranging from US$50 to $150.
