In a move to expand its presence in the web browser market Google is shipping its Chrome with Sony Corp PCs. As of today Google Chrome significantly falls behind Microsoft and Mozilla and some observers believe the deal will allow Google to increase its market share in the industry.
The deal came into effect this summer according to the statement of Google spokesperson Eitan Bencuya who declined to provide further details of the agreement. Google plans to make its Chrome browser accessible to more people and the deal with Sony is a testing of a possible channel.
Sony trails PC giants like Hewlett-Packard Company and Dell Inc, and did not rank among the top five PC vendors by worldwide shipments in the second quarter, according to research firm IDC. But Bencuya said Google was looking at striking similar deals with other PC makers.
