uniBank, the first runner up in product innovation in the CIG Ghana Banking Awards 2008 and three times winners for Best Customer Care, set up collaboration with Technology Service Providers (TSPs) targeting to provide mobile-based Banking Services. Thus uniBank introduced a Net-based banking service accessible through mobile phones. The bank has successfully completed tests, as Head of Operations Edward Randolph-Koranteng reported, so new e-banking products are being offered to customers. The e-Banking Unit of the bank has already launched ATM and e-zwich services. The agreement with TSPs, will utilize the merchant’s new generation of TSPs and run on the industry standard WAP technology. This collaboration is the latest sign of the explosive growth of Web-based banking in Ghana. A recent research found the number of banking institutions striving to offer e-banking services has slightly increased since the start of this year. Over the next few weeks, uniBank is supposed to burst into e-banking with five major initiatives in a move to accelerate customer service convenience, including uni-Alert (Notify-Me Banking), uni-Mobile, uni-Web and e-Collect.
