Is Chinese government paranoiac about sex or its own power?
With the purpose of protecting children from violent and pornographic information, the Chinese government outlawed the searching of sex related medical and research websites to users of internet. Only professionals will be able to access such sites which will be achieved through installing special software by medical information service providers.

In a country where conversations about sex are considered to be an embarrassment and where information on sexuality and sexually transmitted diseases are obtainable only from a few web sites, the new regulation bears a risk of slowing the sexual health education as it outlaws the conduct of any sex-related research by health sections of web portals. The justification of government for adopting such a regulation is undermined by critics who refer to the year of anniversaries and say that it is an excuse of government for banning the sites that it disapproves or fears.

It should mentioned that this regulation has been adopted after the announcement about Beijing demanding to install “Green Dam” internet filtering software on all new PCs manufactured or shipped after July 1.
