OTX Research presented both good and bad sides of social networks

Internet becomes more and more popular among the young people and so are social networks and more than ever before. eMarketer estimates that in 2009, 15.5 million US Internet users ages 12 to 17, or 75% of all online teens, will use social networks. In 2013 this number will increase to 17.9 million, or 79%. The main reason why young people went to the social networking sites is to interact with other young people: to stay in touch with friends, make plans, find new friends and flirt. Any teen has on a social networking site 99, 43 % of friends whom he sees regularly. An average of 33% has never seen in person. According to the survey of OTX Research 60% of those surveyed said they liked making new friends online, and 7% said they were making lots of friends. But the communication online has another side. Over 60% of respondents accepted that the things friends wrote in their profiles could harm their careers or any other way. In addition, 48% said they could be confused by what they themselves wrote, and 38% said they preferred some of the items not to appear on their pages but there was already nothing to do.
