What we shall learn from Obama’s speech on April 14
The president is giving an economic speech at Georgetown University on Tuesday as 100-day symbolic mark of his administration nears.

It is also known that the speech contains no significant policy announcements, but it rather outlines the state of the economy when Obama took office in January, actions of his administration, and future plans regarding troubled sectors. Advisers suggest, Obama shows the public that his policies are actually working, in order for him to insure the public's support for his future plans.

Although the situation in the US is still bad, with unemployment being a 25-year high at 8.5 percent in March, and many people losing their homes or jobs, the president and his administration are trying to recognize progress with optimism. Last week, Obama stated there were already glimmers of hope seen across the economy, but he highlighted that it remained severely stressed and required lots more work to turn it around.

It should be reminded that shortly after taking office Obama signed a $787 billion package intended to boost the economy.

Moreover, with his Tuesday's speech Obama is trying to refocus on his economic agenda and domestic issues, since the last two weeks have been dominated by foreign affairs. Obama spent eight days on his first overseas trip concentrated on discussion of global economics.
