Will you be imposed to shift to Internet Explorer 8?
Microsoft said that starting the third week of April users of IE 6 and 7 on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 will be receiving notifications through the Automate Update service that encourages them to upgrade their system to the latest IE 8 version of the browser.

However, the update will not be imposed on users and Internet Explorer 8 will not be installing itself automatically on computers unless users select it by clicking the install button itself on the update message's accompanying screen. Moreover, users can opt to move to IE 8 in their own time and block the browser's download using Microsoft’s Bitlocker Toolkit released in January.

The notification will be marked depending on the OS used. Thus, users of Windows XP and Server 2003 will get an upgrade message classified as a "high-priority", whereas those on the newer Windows Vista and Server 2008 operating systems will get an upgrade message categorized as "important".
