Unisys, an information technology company, presented the results of its survey that reflects credit and debit card fraud to be No.1 fear of Americans in the situation of global economic recession. Thus US citizen’s anxiety about credit card fraud exceeds terrorism, computer and health viruses and personal safety concerns.
The research was conducted in February 2009 and published in March. It was found that 68% of more than 1,000 respondents are extremely or very anxious about the danger of obtaining their credit or debit card data by another people. 66% extremely or very worry about fraud identity. 58% responded they are extremely or very anxious about terrorism and war; 41% feel the same about a serious health epidemic occurring.
In August 2007 National security issues concerning war and terrorism were at the lowest measurement of concern among the respondents since the company began its research. The results were compounded into the Unisys Security Index. Vice president and general manager of Managed Security Services for Unisys Tim Kelleher says that data shows most people see an immediate, personal risk from greater fraud.
