Qualcomm Inc., a leading provider of B2B wireless enterprise applications and services, on Tuesday represented OmniOne+ fleet management solution for the European market at the Salon International du Transport et de la Logistique (SITL) Temps Réel 2009 in Paris.
OmniOne+ was worked out as a portable solution for transport and logistics companies in order to help them to track and communicate with the subcontracted vehicles, as well as with subcontractors using Qualcomm's FleetVisor™ mobile computing platform. That gives transport companies the ability to manage subcontractors and access OmniOne+ services through Qualcomm's FleetVisor Web portal. As Bill Karnazes, managing director of Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe said, this latest version uses a new handheld device with integrated GPS and navigation capabilities.
OmniOne+ is an easy-to-use, handheld device with a convenient touch screen. The solution lets contracting companies notify assigned drivers of any interim freight stops, give drivers additional instructions, and determine the status of the subcontracted deliveries. It can also inform their customers in nearly real-time of any changes in delivery or pick-up times, improving customer service.
So, unlike its precursor OmniOne, OmniOne+ provides companies with more efficiency, retaining OmniOne’s advantages: ease of use, simple installation, two-way communication between the driver and the hiring company, and load status information. OmniOne+ does not require separate positioning and navigation equipment.
