Gemalto and mChek joined forces to offer secured mobile banking solutions
Gemalto and India-based mChek have joined forces with the aim of offering a wider range of secured mobile banking solutions available on Gemalto SIM cards in South Asian markets. The two companies have been partnering since September 2008 over such areas as introduction of a convenient mobile top-up service, where customers can recharge anywhere, anytime for themselves and others.

Today telecom and banking industries in many countries are benefiting from the opportunity of using SIM cards (i.e. a network-enabled personal security device) for providing banking services. However, not all the countries allow non-banks to accept deposits in Stored-Value Account (SVA) wallets way, and many limit the scope and value of operator managed SVA wallets.

The mChek platform was found to be very appealing as it addresses both of those issues and provides a solution for telecom operators through Gemalto SIM cards. With the help of Gemalto mChek can enable such services as mobile banking, two-factor authentication, secure message delivery, cross-border and domestic money transfer and mobile payments using SVA wallets, direct debit and credit/debit card support, etc.
