Microsoft has launched updated browser, Internet Explorer 8. The new browser is projected to help make Web browsing with safer, easier, and more compatible with Internet standards.
First of the main changes introduced to the IE is related to tabs. In cases of accidentally closing a browser window in IE 8, user is able to restore it when the program is reopened. IE 8 uses color coding to group related tabs together. Tab isolation feature included to the update is designed to prevent an insecure Web site from crashing the whole Web browsing program by only closing the tab displaying problematic page.
Next benefit of the software has to do with searching. IE 8 is enabled to use multiple search engines, not only Windows Live Search. IE 8 can also give the user search suggestions as the word he is searching for is typed. Additionally, IE 8 has icons at the bottom of the search field’s drop-down menu that lets the user switch between search engines.
The security at the IE8 has also been improved. It has been announced to be the most secure browser by Microsoft, as many security features such as: phishing detection, private browsing, clickjacking prevention, etc. have been added.
Talking about web compatibility, it should be highlighted that IE 8 Beta 2 offers better support for W3 Web standards in order to ensure that a Web page appears the same in all browsers. However, it has already been stated that IE 8 will break some pages designed for earlier Internet Explorer versions. However, Microsoft added a button in the toolbar, through which IE 8 can display a page in the same way that IE 7 did.
