In January the number of Internet sites has decreased by 1.23 million
January 2009 research surveyed users of 185,497,213 sites on unusual monthly loss of 1.23 million sites.

Apache's market share has been found out to have grown by more than 1 percentage, and now the site has gained 1.27 million sites this month.

Consequently, the share of Microsoft IIS has fallen to less than a third of the market making its loss the highest in January. Microsoft-IIS websites expired from the survey after more than 2 million blogging sites running on the site.

GFE used by Google's Blogger service lost almost 600 thousand sites. On the other hand, nginx continues to grow further and this month the site increased its market share to 1.87%.

Finally, the number of sites hosted on httpd and WebserverX have increased by more than 20%. Even if the share of httpd has increased to 236 thousand sites and WebserverX’s to 154 thousand, those sites still own only a small market share of the industry.
