Apple is to watch after the users from the camera hidden behind display
An original and interesting idea of camera location behind display is described in Apple's recent patent. It is Apple's notebooks (laptops) with iSight camera launched in display frame that now are considered the "etalon" of designers' mind. However, the engineers from the "apple corporation" intend to go further. According to the conception written in the patent application new tool will make the iSight disappear from the users' eyes. Moreover, the iSight itself it would not only disappear but also move to the middle of the screen instead of above. It is mentioned that the filing details plans for a camera mounted behind a display that could capture an image "while the display elements are in an inactive state (in which the display elements are darkened and at least partially transparent. The producers assure that the cycling the display "between the active state and the inactive state repeatedly" wouldn't cause a 'dark spot' on the screen during photos or even flashing during video capture.

The benefits of new system are obvious, especially for video chatters and the participants of video conferences. Now during the conversation users will be able to look just above or below the eyes of the person they are cyber with instead of looking back and forth between the display and the camera that distract and make the conversation unnatural. Moreover, today's built-in cameras require a user to look away from the lens in order to see his or her video conferencing participants. And new tool could really simplify the process of conversation with cyber friends. Of course there's no real promise of this being integrated into a real product anytime soon, as the tech for placing a working camera behind a traditional laptop LCD is still a ways away.
