U.S. Bank launches new cardfor students
WSU and U.S. Bank just released the new CougarCard Maxx, that, in addition to allowing students to access their U.S. Bank checking account and purchase goods within the country, can be used to buy from anywhere in the world where Visa is accepted. WSU has become one of only three universities in the United States to offer this program.

The newer cards of the company now include a more vivid picture of the Bryan Hall clock tower. Moreover, the name bar has been moved to the top of the card. The Maxx card also includes a Visa logo, as well as a blue top bar comparing to the traditional crimson.

Andrea Niehenke, U.S. Bank Manager said, “If someone loses their Maxx card, we can replace it immediately,” while a normal debit card is usually replaced in 7-10 business days. The card is already being used, as more than 160 Maxx cards have already been issued.

Sai Rong, junior communication major, said, “I don’t think a lot of people will switch, though. It doesn’t make a big difference. If it was my first one then I would, but if I already had a debit card it seems like a hassle to change.”

Students with U.S. Bank checking accounts can go to the CougarCard Center in the CUB in order to upgrade. It is free and takes only five minutes.
