Alibaba explains the necessity of South China headquarters
E-commerce giant in China Alibaba has officially located its South China headquarters in Guangzhou Development District. The District became the group's second regional headquarters since the opening of its Hangzhou headquarters.

The South China headquarters is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alibaba with a total investment of 50 million USD. The headquarters is expected to serve more than 6,000 enterprises within the District in the beginning with the further expansion to the whole country and serve even global enterprises who take Southeast Asia as their centers.

Wei Zhe, president of Alibaba, stated this headquarters was aiming at helping enterprises in the changing economic environment find new business channels. He added that the number of customers who are actually using e-commerce at Guangdong Province is very small due to their heavy relying on their geographical advantage. However, currently both, the Guangdong government and the companies, are realizing the vital role of e-commerce in industrial development. E-commerce can help them to eliminate risks and gain new markets.
