IMS generated over $3 million of sales this year
International Monetary Systems, Ltd. (IMS) announced that its traditional holiday barter expo series have surpassed trading volume projections this year. The trading volume increased by 16% in 2007 and generated over $3 million of sales. The unique feature of IMS is that its members attending expos use special IMS trade dollars, not cash.

Dale Mardak, senior vice president of the company highlighted that the above mentioned amount was generated only from holiday expo events. Consequently, the barter trades held through company national broker network, online barter marketplace, and those done by members using IMS trade dollars are not included in the amount.

Commenting on the volume of the sales John Strabley, executive vice president of the company noted that the amount is as it is due to the company using their “own strict measure of volume which is sales only”. “Traditional barter industry reporting, which uses both sales and purchases, would put this result at $6 million,” he added.
