MRC sugests 5 tips to protect your site
Merchant Risk Council works on anti-fraud tactics and takes extra measures against online fraud. In order to make online fraud going down and outsmart modern fraudsters it came up with five advices of protection.
Firstly, it is recommended to create metrics for the business and observe online fraud rates.
Secondly, online businessmen should focus on aiming for lower fraud - less than 0.2 percent.
Thirdly, it is highly advised to update and optimize the fraud-screening tools. According to Julie Fergerson, board member of the Merchant Risk Council, optimization of fraud-screening technology is very important issue in fighting against online fraud, because those tools are used to determine the suspicious and unsecured orders. It is observed that some merchants review 50 percent of their orders which says they haven't optimized their fraud-screening tools.
The following step the MRC experts advice to take is to use various fraud-prevention services. The top three of such sort are considered Address Verification Services, customer follow-up when the order looks suspicious, and the use of Card Verification Codes.

And the fifth tip of online fraud-prevention strategy is staying one step ahead. Fergerson notes, even though some fraudsters are able to get 100 different credit card numbers, most of the time they use the same e-mails or IP addresses. And attentive online businessmen are able to identify the fraudsters with help of a velocity check across multiple fields. This streamlined anti-fraud technology allows online merchants to observe how often they see different credit card numbers with the same e-mail or IP address.
